How To Learn Faster

How To ACTUALLY Learn and Improve (10x Faster)

How To Learn Faster : Normal People

Is it just me? But there are so many people who are just coasting through life,

Like life is a boat and they're not rowing, just being pushed around by the wind,

And where they end up is a problem for future them,

Please,

For your own sake,

Don't be like these people,

They don't realise the beauty of life and that you can actually control it (to a certain extent),

Everything you want is there for the taking if you just get up off your *ss and work for it.

Today I'll share with you the framework I use when I want to learn something,

Whether that's speed reading, a new skill, or just improving at a skill I already know.

The problem with the type of people I just told you about is that they're not really going anywhere right?

They're not really learning anything or pushing outside of their comfort zone, they're kinda just AFK.

BUT we are different,

We're always learning, improving, adapting and all that jazz,

Today I'm going to share with you the best way I found to do exactly that; Learn and Improve,

It's has saved me tons of headaches and wasted time and I'm sure it will do the same for you.

The Cycle

Now, I'm gonna be honest with you, this isn't the sexiest method,

But it's the method that works, so it's up to you what you want to do,

Pretend you're doing something being flashy,

Or actually do something effective being simple

Follow this method and you'll be going in the right direction,

The method I found is made up of 4 simple stages

The learning cycle, how to learn and improve faster

The What

The first step is called 'The What',

This is where you figure stuff out.

WHAT exactly is it that you want to learn?

WHY do you want to learn it? What benefit will it give you?

WHAT do you want to know when you're 'done' learning this thing? What problems will it help you fix?

You should be able to answer these questions before starting,

You can't start what you don't know

Too many people try to start before they even know WHAT or HOW to start,

Clear the fog,

Figure these questions out so that you'll have a plan of why you are interested in the thing you want to learn and what you need to do to improve at it.

The Research

This (and also the 4th part) are the parts that will show you how to learn faster than everyone you know (and don't).

While parts 1 and 3 are important, part 2 and 4 are the difference between the people who pick something up and immerse themselves in it, and those who quit before making any progress in the activity.

This part is where you'll gather information about the skill you're working on.

Some people see this part as a waste of time but I don't agree,

To do something you never did you need to gather information about it right?

Watch tutorials, read articles, research, gather a bunch of info about the thing you want to do

I see this as sharpening the axe before starting to chop the tree,

It's neccesary to do so that you do the things right,

Maybe there's a certain technique that you need to learn, and through your research you found that out and can start practicing it (later on),

This part is important, however don't make the mistake of doing this part to the extent that the 'Taking action' part is put off till later,

See both of these parts as important but see this part as ALLOWING you to take CORRECT action When you do eventually take action.

By the end of this section you should have information about your activity and some basic first steps you can take to start learning it.

Implementation

Now the fun part,

The implementation,

Actually doing the thing,

Try to put into practice what you learnt in the previous stage to the best of your ability,

Try out this thing and that technique and this way and that way, have fun with it,

If it doesn't turn out perfect that's okay, we'll speak about that in the next section.

This is 1st half of the learning process,

The first 2 sections are to ensure that you are taking the RIGHT action, cause you don't want to be working on the wrong thing, or working on the right thing but doing it wrong right?

The last 2 sections are for improving your skill at the task at hand.

This is probably the most fun stage cause you're actually doing what you want to do,

So enjoy it.

Failure

This is the 2nd half of the learning process,

And it's an essential part in any learning journey,

A critical part in learning anything faster.

Have you ever heard the quote 'fail fast?'

If I told you that you were 10 failures away from reaching all your goals,

10 approaches away from meeting your soulmate,

How fast would you want to fail?

Failure is not opposite of success, it's part of it, but first you must fail before you get life's treasures,

Failure is life's test to determine who actually deserves it,

A way to weed out the weak, a sort of natural selection.

If you're strong enough to Overcome Failure then you've passed life's test.

But the thing is that, this part scares many people away cause we're always told the failing is bad and that we always have to be good or correct.

But no,

Mistakes can actually be a good thing,

Give yourself permission to be bad

You're doing something for the first time obviously you're not going to be very good, that's normal.

You learn by failing,

Imagine the first time you tried to walk,

Did you fall and say 'Oh that's it, walking is not for me!'

Of course you didn't,

You got up and tried a slightly different way, and this is no different.

It's what we call negative feedback,

Basically we learn to do stuff by learning what not to do and avoiding doing that until we do it correctly,

This part may be scary and frustrating but it's necessary,

Think about it,

You can't learn if you don't make mistakes

And besides, if we were so good at everything in the first place what would be the point?

There would be no merit in being good at something in the first place.
